My Ultimate Las Vegas Experience

March 3, 2017 Leave a comment

AuthorLast month I visited a client who is involved with a lot of custom projects for museums, visitor centers and corporate environments. He said that he is always trying to create an exciting experience for visitors to those environments.

That brought back memories of an Exhibitor Show experience a few years back when I attended a couple classes conducted by Jim Gilmore, who co-wrote “The Experience Economy” with Joe Pine in 1999. Read more…

ExhibitorLIVE. Welcome to the Rabbit Hole.

AuthorI have been a lot of places in my life, not to say that I am a renowned international traveler. But I would like to think that I have experienced a lot of things. With that said, I would be somewhat remiss if I didn’t add EXHIBITORLIVE to my list of eye-opening escapades. When I came to Optima, the word “Exhibitor” came up early and often in orientations, group meetings and with management. They spoke about it as if it were a magical gathering of wizards from middle earth. A place for select members of the chosen few and I was invited. Vegas was nothing new to me…my wife and I had travelled there many times and donated a fair share of our earnings to sin city. This was something entirely different.   Read more…

The 6 Questions with Mel White, Classic Exhibits

October 30, 2015 2 comments

When I asked Mel White to participate in the 6 Questions, he told me he was too busy but offered to let his wife, Christine Delea, answer them for him. I’m betting he’s regretting that decision right now. Here’s a candid peek into Mel (and Christine’s) world. It answers an awful lot of questions… Waaaay more than just the six. And it’s a little scary honestly.

1. Tradeshow industry lore is that we all just fell into tradeshow and once you’re in you never leave. For many people that is certainly true. For others, they leave but a part of them remains.  How did you get into the business? Read more…

The Band is all Packed and Gone

AuthorExhibitorLive 2015 is now in our rear view mirror. I am struggling to add the Live part to the name, but I guess that’s because I have been going to the show simply known as Exhibitor for 20 sumpin’ years. I am not afraid to say – I am glad it’s over. I am glad to have left Las Vegas, but I am sincerely appreciative of the time spent stuck indoors for nearly four days. My baseline assessment is that the number of Exhibitors was the same, the number of attendees was the same, and to have a successful show, those numbers are actually not relevant in any meaningful way. However, opportunities found – well that does matter and our strategy for the show was geared around opportunity. Discovery and the number of opportunities that were unearthed was phenomenal. I just finished going through documenting all the projects or ongoing pieces of business that I or my team encountered and all I can say is wow! There’s a lot of action in the industry right now – more than what we observed in 2014 and 2013. Read more…

What’s your “Great Story” from Exhibitor 2015?

AuthorWell, we made it through another successful Exhibitor show! Every year going into the show, like most trade shows, you have to mentally and physically prepare yourself for long days of talking more than you ever have before, staying out way too late, and getting up earlier than you would like.

This being said, we all do it, and even though we’re exhausted in the end, we all walk away with new business, stronger relationships, and great stories to tell… boy do we ever!!!

Coffee. Elves. Electronics.

AuthorWELL IT’S ABOUT THAT TIME AGAIN… No, not the holidays! Come on now, we’re in the tradeshow industry! CES is coming and the countdown is on!! In less than 2 months, the show will be open and our job will be done (until the next show that is).

I may be a bit biased since I am out here on the West Coast, but I think CES is the biggest show of the year. Even non-tradeshow people know about this one. It’s one of my favorite shows! Every year companies outdo themselves. Read more…

Exhibitor Recap

March 28, 2014 3 comments

Well, another Exhibitor Show is in the rear view mirror and I want to say a big thank you to those who attended, stopped by our booth, and came to our reception.

I was thrilled with the effort my team put in to construct our exhibit that featured 16′ h double-sided Panoramic® Lightboxes, a custom Aviator hanging sign, and two inTouch™ Interactive tables. I saw many more touch screens this year and I can tell the interest is increasing because we had double the number of people come and ask us for demonstrations. Read more…
