Renders and a Dog Named Spot

AuthorIf you’ve ever lived in the southern West coast, then you are certainly familiar with the name Cal Worthington (and his dog Spot).

I’m sad to report that Cal recently passed away at the age of 92 but will surely be remembered for his offbeat TV commercials selling cars with many an exotic animal representing his dog Spot (who never was actually a dog.)

The commercials would be accompanied by a jingle set to the tune of “If You’re Happy and You Know It” with the lyrics re-written to “If you want a car or truck, go see Cal, if you want to save a buck, go see Cal.” Boy, that jingle stuck in my head for years! YEARS! Midwesterners and East coasters – you sure missed out.

What Goes Around Comes Around

Out with the new and in with the old.

Yes, you read that correctly. It seems that when it comes to 2013 U.S. design trends, vintage is in. Retro design themes are seen in everything from bakery labels to political campaigns. And the U.S. isn’t the only country looking to the past for creative influence. South Africa and Australia are also top leaders in throwback ingenuity.

Do Whatever It Takes


I’ve always been one to “Do Whatever It Takes”.

I’ll drive 5 or 6 hours just to go watch a favorite band or artist who decided St. Louis wasn’t large enough to be on their tour schedule – yet I’ve never held it against them.

I’ve traveled to nearly all parts US, some Canada and Mexico and even 4 or 5 European countries without ever having the budget to do so because I’ll photograph dogs and make a collage, sell candles through a home-based business, water lawns for those on vacation – all to get that extra cash to go see the world.
