Little Gamblers Appreciate Optima

April 14, 2017 Leave a comment

AuthorThe other night I was watching a program called America: Fact vs. Fiction, this particular episode was on Getting Rich in Las Vegas. It turns out that the belief that you can turn your last dollar into millions only happens in books and movies. However, sometimes big gambles do pay off.

Does the Color Temperature of the White Light I Use to Illuminate My Graphics Really Matter?

~ Guest Blogger Rob Cohen

Blogger PhotoLighting, whether front, back or internally illuminating graphics, really has a major effect on your graphics. The color temperature of the lighting used significantly impacts the appearance of the graphics.

What do we mean by color temperature and its impact on graphics? Without getting into the specifics of a particular light’s kelvin temperature, in general terms the color temperature of white light is  Read more…

Renting is not fun!

March 30, 2017 Leave a comment

AuthorUmm, I mean renting a house isn’t fun. Renting an exhibit is an entirely different situation and can really be the way to go these days…

But you must wonder, what put me on this tangent?
Just reflecting on when our refrigerator died last fall and our landlord Steve did not fix the problem immediately.

My boyfriend Neil and I have been excellent tenants who’ve taken great care of the property and paid rent on time every month for 4 years, yet Steve said it would take a whole week to get the new fridge in – WHAT?!?!?!

AuthorWith EXHIBITORLIVE a week plus in the rear view mirror, it is tempting to recap the buzz of the show floor and all the groovy emotional points of the show, but I am going to skip that as it has been done and I am going to focus on a very serious matter. The matter of sharing what is apparently an extremely important matter and cornerstone of the 2017 Optima EXHIBITORLIVE experience – WHO WON THE DANG GUMBALL COUNTING CONTEST!

EXHIBITOR LIVE 2017 Optima-Style was a Major POP!!

AuthorWhile I cannot speak for everyone that happened upon the giant bubble gum machine in the sky that stuck out like a… well like a… well like a giant bubble gum machine in the sky, I can speak for the attendees that I did get the chance to talk to.

To summarize, let’s just say that if they did not believe the pre-show marketing blasts, or were on the “bubble” as to the validity of those announcements, they partook in the Kool-Aid, so to speak, saw the light and truly left as believers in what 4K Print Technology could achieve.

Wow! Does 4K Ever Pop!

Author PhotoI’ve been on the road a lot since the beginning of the year and those of you whom I have visited or spoken with on the phone in the past few weeks know that I have been super excited about our announcement this week about 4K Printing Technology. You have heard me give visual descriptions of what this new tech print looks like and what that can mean for our customers—gorgeous flesh tones; rich, bold and vibrant reds and blacks; and beautifully smooth gradations to name just a few great attributes.

My Ultimate Las Vegas Experience

March 3, 2017 Leave a comment

AuthorLast month I visited a client who is involved with a lot of custom projects for museums, visitor centers and corporate environments. He said that he is always trying to create an exciting experience for visitors to those environments.

That brought back memories of an Exhibitor Show experience a few years back when I attended a couple classes conducted by Jim Gilmore, who co-wrote “The Experience Economy” with Joe Pine in 1999. Read more…

Do Airports Have Brands?

February 24, 2017 1 comment

AuthorSitting at gate A10 this morning in STL, I was watching the world and interesting people walk by and started thinking about the Dollar Shave Club Guy and when TWA ruled the St. Louis airport and airspace.

See, the DSCG came out of a marketing and ad agency background and from what I understand, had an ah-ha moment a few years back about getting shaving tools and advice and realized that 4 out of 5 dentists agree that most men have no clue as to what they are buying and why. Read more…

Think Big, Go Small

AuthorCall me a nerd (or maybe a hipster), but I am a huge fan of tiny houses and have a fantasy about someday building one in my parents’ backyard as a vacation home.

Perhaps my minor obsession has something to do with the fact that I lived in shoebox-sized studio apartments when I was teaching English in South Korea, and really enjoyed the challenge. My first place was about 150 sq ft – or roughly the size of your typical backyard storage shed. The average American house size is over 2000 sq ft, so living in a place less than 1/10 that size seems claustrophobic and horrible, doesn’t it? It doesn’t have to be.  Read more…

We’ve Embraced The Chaos For You

AuthorEmbrace the chaos

We’ve all heard this phrase before
and if you’re in the trade show and event industry, you know you have to remain calm, even when you’ve silently “worked in profanity the way others work in oils or clay” – (thank you Ralphie from ‘A Christmas Story’).

You could also lose your mind, become a complete a-hole, or simply keel over from stress – none of which are appealing to most.  There are so many moving parts and pieces that need to come together to make it work that there’s no doubt why there’s a need for the well-known Plan B for every show (and keeping your cool is essential.) There’s always a solution.
