Wrapping It All Up

Author2014 has been a very interesting year to say the least. Don’t get me wrong – very few years are notably uneventful, but we have certainly seen several ups and downs in 2014. Let’s recap some of the more memorable times of 2014:

Jimmy Fallon took the reins at The Tonight Show. Some may say it’s a better show than when Jay Leno was the host. Regardless of anyone’s personal opinion of the shows merits or shortcomings, it is still pretty darn funny and a great way to wind down at the end of the day.

We’ve had our share of public losses with the deaths of Joan Rivers, Shirley Temple and, of course, Robin Williams. Personally, Mr. Williams’ suicide made me think a lot about the problems and issues people face but don’t let it affect their demeanor or outward appearance.

Kim Kardashian West continued to try to extend her (some may say undeserved) 15 minutes of fame, and Miley Cyrus keeps shocking everyone. At least they both made headlines.

A shift in the US political landscape occurred in the mid-term elections when the GOP took control of both houses in Congress. Let’s not forget the debate over immigration, ebola and Cuba

AuthorCoca-Cola introduced personalized cans and bottles – “Share a Coke with…” My wife and 4 boys each were able to “collect” their own bottles and cans. I still have not found a “Paul” can or bottle but here is someone else’s photo of one. I really didn’t think Paul was an uncommon name…who knew?

Scandals rocked our entertainment world with stories about Ray Rice and Stephen Collins amongst others. As a society, we are dealing with the ongoing discussions that surfaced around events that took place in Ferguson and New York in recent months.

Yes, 2014 has been interesting. Many of us are happy that it is coming to a close. I know that this is not an all-inclusive list…looking back, what are some of the ups and downs that you found memorable? Please let us know in the comment box below.
